Name: Shane Watson
Birth: June 17, 1981, Queensland
IPL Team: Rajasthan Royals
Country: Australia
He was termed as the ‘hero’ of first season of IPL. Along with Captain Shane Warne, Watson started pinning the ‘winning’ story for Rajasthan Royals. At 1.7 crores, he is placed at the cost equal to that of Warne. For 472 runs and 17 wickets in 15 matches, he was termed the ‘Player of the Tournament’. Watson had played international matches before IPL as well, but hadn’t been able to leave a mark. It was after that the selectors noticed his performance in IPL that he got a place in his team for the New Zealand tour. For the second season as well, the expectations from Watson will run high.
